With a nickname like the “Sunshine City”, it’s no wonder St. Petersburg is such a popular vacation destination. With award-winning beaches, dozens of popular attractions, and endless dining options, there is no shortage of fun in the sun. We’re showing you the perfect way to spend a weekend in St. Petersburg!

Best Time to Visit

Average temperatures in St. Petersburg vary throughout the year. Based on average temperatures, average rainfall, and humidity, the best months to visit St. Pete are March, April, and November. During the summer months of July and August, you can expect high temperatures in the 90’s and the greatest chance for rain. Winter months have the lowest chance of precipitation with high temperatures near 70 degrees and lows in the 50s. St. Petersburg, much like the rest of Florida, has above average humidity throughout the year.

What to Pack

Summer Clothing: If you’re coming during the summer months, be prepared for hot weather! Pack swimsuits, shorts, tank tops, and sandals. Since summer is also the rainy season, be prepared with a rain jacket and waterproof shoes.


Winter Clothing: Winter weather can vary from day to day so it’s best to bring a wide variety of clothing options. Packing outfits with layers will help ensure that you are comfortable at any temperature. When traveling to St. Pete in winter, always plan to bring pants and a jacket.

What to Do

Spend Time at the Beach

During warm days, spending time at the beach is a must when in St. Petersburg! There are several beautiful, white sand beaches in the area that you can choose from including St. Pete Beach, Clearwater Beach, or Upham Beach.

St. Pete Pier

The new St. Pete Pier offers fun for everyone! Its 26 acres extend from St. Petersburg to Tampa Bay making it a great place to walk, run, or bike. The pier also has several options for dining, drinking, shopping, swimming, and a concert venue. There is something here for the whole family to enjoy!

Art and Mural Biking Tour

St. Petersburg is known for being a colorful, vibrant city with art around every corner. You will see many just by walking the streets of downtown, but if you’re looking to experience all of the murals the city has to offer, consider doing an Art and Mural Biking Tour. A local guide will lead the way and tell you everything you need to know about each mural and piece of art! This is a great way to get some exercise and see the city!

Salvador Dali Museum

Located in downtown St. Petersburg on the waterfront, the Salvador Dali Museum is dedicated to the works of famous artist Salvador Dali. It has the largest collection of Dali’s works outside of Europe with 96 oil paintings, 200 watercolors and drawings, and more than 2,100 prints, photographs, posters, textiles, sculptures, and more.

Our Favorite Eats

Brunch

There are many great brunch options in the area but one of our favorites is Cassis. Cassis is open Tuesday-Sunday and serves American classics with a subtle French twist. Cassis is a great option for both quick bites or a leisurely meal.

Lunch

With a menu ranging from salads, sandwiches, tacos, sushi, and more, The Lure is the perfect spot for lunch in St. Pete. The Lure has delicious, fresh seafood options and is known for having some of the best fish tacos in the city.

Dinner

For the only waterfront dining experience located in the heart of downtown St. Pete, head to Fresco’s Waterfront Bistro. You’ll enjoy craft cocktails and a wide variety of dinner options all while having gorgeous views of the marina. 

Drinks

Fans of craft beer can end the night with drinks at 3 Daughters Brewing, which has over 40 beers on tap. Wine lovers will enjoy a glass at Sola Bistro and Wine Bar, while those who prefer to unwind with a cocktail should try Mandarin Hide, a vintage-style cocktail lounge.
